ABOUT THE ROLE
We are looking for a draughtsperson who is self-motivated and experienced planning within outdoor spaces. You will primarily be responsible for creating detailed technical drawings and plans for how our event elements will fit into specific outdoor spaces using computer-aided design (CAD) software. You may also be tasked with creating technical drawings for items like road cases, prop elements, scenic or technical structures, and other related items. You will also be asked to assist translating the Creative and Production’s design concepts into precise layout and technical documents. This position will form part of a multidisciplinary event team, and should be comfortable working in all necessary digital formats.
LOCATION AND DATES
This will primarily be a remote position, working part time. Exact details will be discussed during the interview process.
REMUNERATION
Rate to be agreed depending on experience.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Preparing both preliminary design sketches and detailed finished plans that work with CADD systems.
- Communicating with the Creative, Production and technical teams, and incorporating knowledge gained into drawings.
- Preparing, reviewing and redrafting alongside the Creative and Production teams, and maintaining updated designs based on changes as they happen.
- Performing calculations for materials and weight limitations.
- Identifying and communicating potential design problems to the rest of the team.
- Create design specifications, documentation, and material lists
- Prepare complete documentation packages for engineers
- You will report directly to the Technical and Associate Director, but also be working with other teams as needed.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Confident in drafting technical packages using AutoCAD or Sketchup (2D).
- Comfortable inserting an image from GoogleEarth, working with inserting blocks, layers, external references and image underlays.
- Comfortable working in both metric and imperial.
- Exceptional attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
- Time management skills to complete error-free work within the required timeframe.
- Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities to develop creative solutions.
- Must have experience in using Google Drive and the Google suite of applications including Sheets, Word, Google Meetings.
- Interpersonal skills to work within a team, taking direction from Creative and Production team members
- At least 3 years of previous relevant experience in a related industry.
- Visa/permits - The candidate must be able to work in the UK and/or EU and achieve one of the following: (1) Already a citizen/resident in the country and is permitted to work. (2) Already in possession of a work visa/permit.
DESIRABLE:
- A background in engineering, architectural or landscaping drawings. A degree from a technical college is also preferable.
- Experience with civil engineering, parking lot configuration, and traffic flow,
- Experience in computer-aided design and drafting using any or all of the following: Vectorworks, GoogleEarth, wysiwyg.
